Yesterday I saw a ladder in the lane. Why? A gardener was cutting the hedge. Why? The hedge didn't make great problems in the lane. But the gardener has a new toy! He has a large saw - an electric saw - and he needed to cut something down. Most of the catkins are gone. There will not be many hazel nuts in the autumn for the squirrels. We have a gift - a pile of logs by the gate. I would prefer to see the catkins. Am I ungrateful? The squirrels will steal seeds from the birds.
