Seventy-five years ago the world was in turmoil, there was warfare. The Second World War wasn't over. My grandmother in America was reading this magazine. Her son, my father, was somewhere in Europe. I was just two months old. My mother was very anxious. This edition was published on 30th April. By coincidence Hitler committed suicide on the same day. The war would soon be over. But we are all anxious now. There is still a conflict, but all people have a mutual enemy - the virus. In the magazine there are many advertisements - some of them relevant for today. We need long distance communication. Nowadays there's the internet as well as the telephone. In 1945 there was a big press conference for journalists. In 2020 they must be far away from one another. A war artist did a picture of a crowded ballroom in London. Today all such places are closed.
