This is a sad thing. There are pretty leaves on the slide, but there are no children anywhere near. They can’t come here because we are in lockdown. But I’m quite happy however. There are still pretty flowers in hedgerows. Not everything is dead. I have not seen this white rose anywhere else. Is it a wild rose? Perhaps it is a field briar – a clinging part of summer. And we have gorse flowers continually to cheer us up. There’s a sweet smell by the lane – one harbinger of winter. It’s a sweet coltsfoot plant. It’s not a true coltsfoot, but the leaves are similar. It is winter heliotrope from southern Europe or north Africa. There are blackberry flowers but there won’t be enough sun to ripen the berries. I can’t recognise all the flowers Is this cow parsley or wild carrot – or something different?
